Shandong HiTHIUM has begun the production rollout of its Heze Base in Shandong, China, marking a new phase in the company’s expansion of long-duration energy storage (LDES) manufacturing. The facility is part of what HiTHIUM describes as the world’s first integrated industrial park focused on long-duration energy storage. The project is designed to strengthen the company’s manufacturing capabilities and support the growing demand for large-scale energy storage solutions.
The Heze facility is being developed as a long-duration energy storage integrated zero-carbon industrial park. According to HiTHIUM, the project has a planned investment of no less than RMB 13 billion and includes multiple stages of the energy storage value chain. These include lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery manufacturing, PACK and energy storage system integration, new materials production and upstream raw-material facilities.
The integrated approach is intended to bring key production activities together within a single industrial ecosystem. By covering battery cells, PACK manufacturing, energy storage system integration and supporting materials, the Heze Base is positioned to improve coordination across the LDES manufacturing chain. This is particularly important as the energy storage industry moves toward larger-capacity systems and longer storage durations.
HiTHIUM has been increasing its focus on LDES as renewable energy deployment expands and power systems require greater flexibility. The company currently offers energy storage solutions covering different duration requirements, including its 8-hour-native LDES platform. HiTHIUM has also highlighted the importance of large-capacity battery cells and integrated systems in supporting renewable energy integration and grid flexibility.
The Heze Base also adds to HiTHIUM’s wider manufacturing footprint. The company already operates major manufacturing facilities, including its Chongqing base, which was recognized by the World Economic Forum in January 2026 as the world’s first Lighthouse Factory in the energy storage battery sector. HiTHIUM says the Chongqing facility also has a production line dedicated to LDES batteries, supporting the company’s broader strategy to scale long-duration storage manufacturing.
With the production rollout at Heze, HiTHIUM is further expanding its manufacturing capacity for the LDES market. The integrated industrial park is expected to support the company’s efforts across battery production, system integration and energy storage applications. As renewable power generation grows and longer-duration storage becomes increasingly important, HiTHIUM is positioning its Heze Base as a key part of its strategy to scale LDES solutions for future energy systems.
