Solis has deployed its first SolisStorage EverCore Battery energy storage system (BESS) in India at a software IT data centre in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The project has been developed in partnership with Inforce Engineering Solutions LLP, also known as Inforce Solar, and combines rooftop solar generation with battery storage for commercial and industrial energy management.

The Chennai installation combines an 870 kW rooftop solar PV system with a 500 kW battery energy storage system offering 1.04 MWh of usable energy capacity. The rooftop solar plant uses 615 Wp TOPCon modules, while the battery system consists of four SolisStorage EverCore units, each with a storage capacity of 261 kWh.

The four EverCore units have been installed in a parallel configuration and are integrated with four Solis S6-EH3P125K10-NV-YD-H hybrid inverters. During the day, electricity generated by the rooftop solar system can supply the data centre, while surplus solar generation can be stored in the battery system for later use.

The solar-plus-storage configuration is designed to support higher on-site renewable energy utilisation and energy management. Stored electricity can be discharged during periods of higher demand or when grid conditions require additional power. The system can also support peak-demand management and, under suitable operating conditions, help reduce reliance on diesel-based generation.

The project highlights the potential role of battery energy storage systems in India’s commercial and industrial (C&I) sector, particularly for facilities with significant and continuous electricity requirements. For data centres, combining rooftop solar with battery storage provides an additional mechanism to manage renewable electricity and support operational energy requirements.

According to Solis, the Chennai deployment is part of its focus on energy-storage solutions for India’s transition toward cleaner and more resilient power systems. The project also demonstrates how modular battery storage can be combined with rooftop solar and hybrid inverter technology for C&I applications. With four 261 kWh EverCore units providing the system’s 1.04 MWh energy capacity, the installation represents Solis’ first EverCore deployment in India.
