StoreDot an Israeli company developing extremely fast charging battery technology for electric vehicles is urging global electric vehicle manufacturers to adopt a more start-up mentality.
With a claimed 100-mile (160-kilometer) range in just five minutes of charging, the company is now on track for mass production readiness of its 100in5 silicon-dominant extreme fast charging batteries by the end of the current year. The main “charging anxiety” barrier to widespread EV adoption is removed by the XFC battery solution. The CEO of the company is urging some automakers to reconsider their customary technology introduction schedules in order to hasten the integration of these revolutionary batteries into new models, which will benefit consumers and speed the adoption of EVs.

However, he suggests that by working with startups and scaleup-ready companies like StoreDot, leading automakers can adopt new practices and benefit from a quicker development mode, enabling the introduction of the newest charging battery technology to the market faster.

Dr. Doron Myersdorf, CEO, StoreDot “We are working with many global OEMs and it’s clear that some are already changing their mindset to adopt advanced battery technologies faster. But not every OEM behaves like this, and I believe the entire EV industry will benefit from accelerating its processes and timelines if we are going to collectively undertake the seismic shift to electrification that the world needs.”

“With a typical 5-year cycle to implement any new charging battery technology, we are encouraging global automotive manufacturers following traditional processes to adjust their methods and mindset to more agile business practices when evaluating and implementing innovative technologies. Testing of new technologies such as StoreDot’s Extreme Fast Charge – XFC – cells can be a strict, sequential, and laborious process that assumes a certain level of technology maturity.”
