Sungrow has unveiled its latest PowerTitan 3.0 utility-scale energy storage system (ESS) alongside a Single-Platform DC-coupled PV-ESS architecture at the Sungrow PV & ESS Summit held in Madrid, Spain, underscoring the company’s strategic push into Europe’s renewable energy market. The announcement comes as grid operators seek more flexible storage solutions to support growing solar capacity and renewable integration.

The newly introduced PowerTitan 3.0 is engineered for large-scale energy storage applications, combining advanced stacked battery cells with silicon carbide (SiC) power conversion systems (PCS). Each 20-foot container unit integrates a 1.78 MW PCS and 7.14 MWh of battery capacity, enabling flexible configurations with discharge durations from two to eight hours. A four-unit block can deliver up to 7.2 MW/28.5 MWh, meeting the needs of utility-grade deployments.

High efficiency and rapid deployment are key design features of the PowerTitan 3.0 system. The SiC PCS achieves up to 99.3 percent efficiency, while the complete system delivers a round-trip efficiency of around 92 percent. Factory-preconfigured units can self-configure and complete system checks within an hour, enabling large-scale projects — such as a 1 GWh installation — to be connected in roughly 12 days.

In parallel, Sungrow introduced a Single-Platform DC-coupled PV-ESS solution that integrates its 1+X modular inverter series, a dedicated storage interface, PowerTitan 3.0 with a built-in DC/DC module, and a proprietary PV-ESS Synergy Management System. This integrated architecture enhances system-level cost efficiency, boosts conversion performance, and supports longer discharge durations and higher DC-to-AC ratios, making it ideal for large solar-plus-storage plants across Europe.

Grid-forming technology was also spotlighted at the summit, reflecting the industry’s focus on grid stability as renewable penetration rises. Sungrow demonstrated capabilities such as voltage and frequency support, oscillation damping, and black-start functionality, vital for maintaining resilient power networks in high-renewable scenarios.

Sungrow reaffirmed its commitment to the European market, highlighting a robust local service ecosystem supported by hundreds of engineers, regional service centres, warehouses, and partner networks. The company plans to deepen its footprint through strategic partnerships and next-generation technological offerings aimed at accelerating Europe’s green energy transition.
