Suzuki Motorcycle India has officially begun production of its first electric scooter, the e-Access, at its Gurgaon manufacturing facility. This marks the company’s entry into the electric two-wheeler segment in India, aligning with its global strategy to promote sustainable mobility solutions. The e-Access was initially showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo earlier this year, signaling Suzuki’s commitment to expanding its electric vehicle portfolio.
The e-Access is powered by a 3.07 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery, offering a claimed range of 95 km on a single charge. Its 4.1 kW electric motor delivers a top speed of 71 km/h, making it suitable for urban commuting. The scooter supports multiple riding modes—Eco, Ride A, and Ride B—along with a reverse mode for added convenience. Charging options include a standard charger that takes approximately 6 hours and 42 minutes for a full charge, and a fast charger that reduces this time to about 2 hours and 12 minutes.
Design-wise, the e-Access retains the familiar aesthetics of the Access 125 but incorporates modern elements such as LED lighting, a digital TFT instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity, and keyless ignition. It rides on 12-inch alloy wheels and features telescopic front forks and a rear swingarm suspension setup. Braking duties are handled by a front disc and rear drum brake combination.
Suzuki plans to distribute the e-Access through its existing network of over 1,000 dealerships across India, initially focusing on urban markets where the adoption of electric vehicles is higher. The company is also training its dealer network to provide specialized services for electric vehicles, ensuring a seamless ownership experience for customers.
While the official pricing for the e-Access has not been announced, industry estimates suggest it could be priced around ₹1.20 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon launch, the e-Access will compete with other electric scooters in the market, including the Honda Activa e, TVS iQube, Ather Rizta, and Ola S1.
The introduction of the e-Access signifies Suzuki’s commitment to diversifying its product lineup and embracing cleaner mobility solutions. As the electric vehicle market in India continues to grow, Suzuki’s entry with the e-Access positions it to cater to the evolving preferences of environmentally conscious consumers.
