Swiggy has launched battery-swapping stations at 25 Instamart pods in collaboration with its ecosystem partners to improve electric vehicle (EV) access for delivery partners. The initiative aims to make battery-swapping facilities more accessible and support the use of electric vehicles in last-mile delivery operations.

Alongside the battery-swapping stations, Swiggy is also introducing electric vehicle rental services at its Instamart pods. Through this arrangement, delivery partners will be able to collect rented electric vehicles from the same locations where they pick up customer orders.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari was present at the launch. He highlighted the importance of clean, efficient and affordable transportation for India’s growth. He also said that electric vehicle adoption among delivery partners can benefit their incomes, cities and the environment.

According to the information shared by Swiggy, a delivery partner visits an Instamart pod approximately 20 times on a busy working day. The company has therefore placed battery-swapping stations and EV rental facilities at these locations, within delivery partners’ existing workspaces.

The arrangement is intended to save delivery partners the time they would otherwise spend travelling to separate locations to charge their vehicles or collect electric vehicles. By making these services available at Instamart pods, Swiggy aims to integrate vehicle access and battery swapping into partners’ regular delivery routines.

Gadkari appreciated Swiggy and its ecosystem partners for bringing practical electric mobility solutions closer to delivery workers. He emphasised the importance of continued collaboration between the government and industry to make EV adoption easier for delivery partners who want to choose electric vehicles.
