SWITCH Mobility, a global leader in electric buses and light commercial vehicles and the electric mobility arm of Ashok Leyland, part of the Hinduja Group, announced a landmark initiative under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme – the deployment of its iconic SWITCH EiV 22 electric double decker bus for the ‘Dekho Meri Dilli’ sightseeing experience in the National Capital.
For the first time, Delhi residents and visitors can explore the city’s rich cultural and historical heritage aboard a fully electric, air-conditioned double decker bus – a clean, comfortable, and immersive new way to experience the grandeur of India’s capital. The initiative redefines urban sightseeing, blending the romance of the iconic double decker with the promise of a greener tomorrow.
The curated full-day route commences at Dilli Haat – INA at 9:00 am, taking passengers on a thoughtfully designed journey through the heart of New Delhi. The tour covers Vijay Chowk, a photography stop at Rashtrapati Bhavan, visits to the National Museum, the National Gallery of Modern Art, the Pradhan Mantri Sangrahalya, and culminates with an evening at the National War Memorial & India Gate, before returning to Dilli Haat – INA for shopping and dinner by 6:00 pm.
Powering this experience is the SWITCH EiV 22 – India’s first and unique electric double decker AC bus – designed, developed, and manufactured in India, drawing on the deep engineering expertise and manufacturing legacy of Ashok Leyland. The bus features a 231 kWh NMC chemistry battery pack, a range of up to 250 kms, optimised seating for 65 passengers, and a lightweight aluminium body construction that offers best-in-class comfort. The SWITCH EiV 22 is the world’s first standard-floor, air conditioned, electric double decker with a wider rear door and rear staircase – a true marvel of Indian engineering on global standards.
The SWITCH EiV 22 deploys a 650V architecture, dual gun charging system, and liquid-cooled battery technology, making it a robust and future-ready solution for urban India. With bus components manufactured domestically to achieve FAME II compliance, the SWITCH EiV 22 is a testament to the ‘Make in India’ ethos applied to the future of clean mobility.
With electric double deckers already serving cities including Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, and Kerala, and 100 electric tourist hop-on hop-off buses running across 10 locations in India, Switch Mobility continues to lead the nation’s electric public transport revolution — one iconic journey at a time.
