Tata Motors is reportedly preparing an all-wheel-drive (AWD) version of its revived Tata Sierra, with industry sources suggesting a possible rollout of the AWD-equipped electric variant in 2026 and the internal-combustion (ICE) version by 2027.
The new Sierra sits on Tata’s latest ARGOS architecture, which is engineered to support a wide variety of propulsion systems including petrol, diesel, CNG, hybrid and electric and importantly, accommodates AWD.
According to multiple media reports, the electric-version Sierra is likely to be the first to get AWD, possibly as early as 2026. The ICE-AWD model is expected to follow in early 2027.
The potential addition of AWD along with the flexibility of the ARGOS platform — signals Tata’s ambition to expand the Sierra line-up in the coming years. This could include more body styles and even a possible seven-seater variant, aimed at customers seeking a rugged, lifestyle-oriented SUV.
That said, no official confirmation has yet been made by Tata Motors regarding exact launch dates, variant details or pricing for the AWD Sierra. Final specifications are expected closer to the launch.
Given the growing demand for versatile SUVs in India, the addition of AWD both in EV and ICE forms — could enhance the appeal of the new Sierra, making it a more capable and versatile offering for buyers looking for all-terrain capability as well as everyday usability.
