The government of Telangana has rolled out a sweeping long-term plan to transform the state into a net-zero, fully electric and climate-resilient economy by 2047. The vision rests on combining clean mobility, expanded renewable energy, and sustainable urban living all aimed at making cities greener, healthier, and more future-ready.
A central goal of this roadmap is a complete shift to electric transport over the coming decades. Telangana plans to convert both public and private vehicles to electric, encouraging EV adoption through incentives, expanding charging infrastructure, and partnering with industry stakeholders.
Beyond vehicles, the plan envisions greener cities powered by clean energy. The state aims to cut carbon emissions from transport, industry, and urban zones using renewable energy, reducing pollution, promoting sustainable urban planning, creating green public spaces, and building eco-friendly infrastructure.
To support this shift, Telangana will strengthen policies related to EV manufacturing and supply-chains, deploy public charging and battery-swapping stations at a large scale, and offer incentives for clean-mobility startups and green-tech innovators. Public transport fleets will be modernised with electric buses and shared mobility services a major push toward sustainable transit.
The state also plans systemic changes to power and waste management: utilizing renewable energy more broadly, promoting energy storage and smart grid solutions, and introducing waste-to-wealth initiatives (like biomethanation, bio-char, waste-to-electricity) to curb emissions from waste, industry, agriculture, and animal husbandry by 2047.
In its 2047 vision, Telangana aims to lead among Indian states in achieving a zero-emission transport ecosystem, cleaner urban air, high reliance on renewables and sustainable mobility combining modern infrastructure, green energy, and inclusive development to set a benchmark for future-ready, eco-conscious growth.
