India’s rapidly evolving EV ecosystem has received a boost with the strategic partnership between ThunderPlus, the nation’s fastest-growing EV-charging network, and BijliRide, a SaaS-powered electric two-wheeler rental platform. The collaboration is aimed squarely at enhancing accessibility, convenience, and reliability of electric mobility across India — particularly in addressing the critical “range anxiety” barrier.

Under the agreement, ThunderPlus will integrate BijliRide’s battery-swapping machines across its more than 250 charging hubs, enabling both B2C users and gig-economy riders to swap batteries swiftly and continue their journeys with minimal interruption. This step transforms ThunderPlus hubs into more than just fast-charging stations — they become full-service multi-activity mobility hubs.

In addition, ThunderPlus is rolling out its flagship “Thunder Tej” 12 kW LEVDC fast-charger for two- and three-wheelers, with the “Chai Pe Charge” campaign framing the idea that riders can reach up to 80 % battery capacity in just 10 minutes — perhaps during a tea break — thereby combining convenience with high-speed charging.

For BijliRide, headquartered in Hyderabad — one of India’s fastest-adopting cities for EVs — the partnership offers the infrastructure backbone needed to expand its hub-and-spoke STAR model (Swap-Transit-And-Recharge). BijliRide’s CEO & Co-Founder, Shivam Sisodiya, noted that combining ThunderPlus’s infrastructure network with BijliRide’s rental ecosystem will create seamless pickup/drop-off points offering battery swapping, charging and quick-service support.

The agreement also emphasises scalability: after the Hyderabad launch, BijliRide intends to replicate the model in major metros including Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, thereby building an integrated commuting ecosystem that combines rentals, swapping, and charging under a unified platform.

Ultimately, this partnership between ThunderPlus and BijliRide comes at a pivotal moment in India’s EV journey. By reducing downtime and fear of being stranded due to low battery, it addresses one of the largest obstacles to mass adoption — range anxiety. Industry observers note that expanding fast-charging and swap infrastructure remains a key enabler for widespread EV acceptance.
