ThunderPlus has taken an innovative step to accelerate electric vehicle (EV) adoption in Hyderabad by converting unused land in Bachupally into a fast EV charging hub, marking a strategic push in strengthening city-wide clean mobility infrastructure. The newly commissioned station demonstrates how dormant real estate can be repurposed into productive, future-ready assets that serve both individual commuters and commercial fleet operators alike.
Situated strategically between Bachupally and Bowrampet, the charging facility has been equipped with a 60 kW fast charger that supports a wide range of EV types — from two-wheelers and three-wheelers to four-wheelers and light commercial vehicles. The location is expected to significantly ease charging accessibility for residents and regular travellers along this burgeoning suburban corridor.
The project was realised through ThunderPlus’ franchise expansion model, which invites local stakeholders to participate in and benefit from India’s transition to electric mobility. In this case, the vacant land was transformed into a revenue-generating charging station by partner franchisee Manoj, an IT professional who leveraged his underutilised plot to contribute to sustainable transport infrastructure.
ThunderPlus emphasises that its franchise-led approach not only expands its network but also enables everyday landowners and entrepreneurs to play a direct role in building EV charging ecosystems. According to Rajeev YSR, Executive Director and CEO of ThunderPlus, India’s real challenge isn’t a shortage of land — it’s how that land is utilised for essential infrastructure development.
The station’s public-friendly design allows users to charge their EVs without the need for any dedicated mobile application, simplifying the experience for commuters and commercial drivers alike. By lowering usability barriers, ThunderPlus aims to promote broader adoption of EVs and help create a more resilient charging network across urban and semi-urban regions.
With this being the eighth franchise-based EV charging site rolled out by the company, ThunderPlus plans to further scale its footprint in the coming months, targeting the establishment of many more EV hubs that convert idle space into functional, energy-forward infrastructure.
