Uber has announced a significant partnership with Refex Green Mobility to deploy 1,000 electric vehicles (EVs) across key Indian cities by 2026. This collaboration is part of Uber’s global initiative to achieve 100% emission-free rides by 2040, contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions in urban areas.
The electric vehicles will be integrated into Uber’s platform in four major cities: Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Mumbai. This move will not only enhance the availability of electric rides but also support India’s transition toward greener and more sustainable transportation solutions.
Aditya Kapoor, Uber India’s Head of Supply and Electrification, highlighted that the partnership with Refex is a crucial step toward Uber’s commitment to zero-emission mobility. The company aims to remove barriers to EV adoption and continue driving the shift toward eco-friendly transportation.
Refex Green Mobility, which currently operates over 1,300 company-owned electric vehicles, will work alongside Uber to further reduce urban carbon footprints. The collaboration will play a vital role in India’s broader sustainability objectives, according to Sachin Navtosh Jha, Chief of Staff at Refex Group.
The deployment of these 1,000 electric vehicles will be an addition to Uber’s existing EV fleet, further strengthening its efforts to lead the shift to sustainable and environmentally-friendly urban mobility.
