Victoria has marked a major milestone in clean energy development with the launch of its first integrated community battery and electric vehicle charging hub in Clifton Hill, Melbourne. The project combines neighbourhood battery storage with public EV charging infrastructure, aiming to improve renewable energy usage and support the growing number of electric vehicles across the region.

The initiative has been developed by Yarra Energy Foundation with support from the Victorian Government under its Neighbourhood Battery Initiative. The newly operational hub includes a community battery system paired with two wheelchair-accessible EV charging bays, creating a more inclusive and sustainable mobility solution for local residents.

According to project developers, the integrated system is designed to store excess renewable electricity generated during the day and supply cleaner energy during periods of high demand.
