Volvo Trucks has introduced its next-generation electric truck lineup, setting a new benchmark in zero-emission transport with a remarkable driving range of up to 700 km on a single charge. This latest development marks a major breakthrough in long-haul electric trucking, addressing one of the biggest challenges in the EV segment—range anxiety—while strengthening Volvo’s leadership in sustainable transport solutions.
At the center of this innovation is the new Volvo FH Aero Electric, specifically designed for long-distance operations. Equipped with advanced e-axle technology, the truck allows for increased battery capacity, enabling it to achieve up to 700 km range. This makes it suitable for full-day operations, bringing electric trucks closer to matching the performance and practicality of traditional diesel-powered vehicles.
In addition to the flagship model, Volvo has also introduced upgraded versions of its Volvo FH Electric, Volvo FM Electric, and Volvo FMX Electric trucks. These next-generation vehicles offer improved flexibility, enhanced driver comfort, and a driving range of up to 470 km. The new driveline system also allows these trucks to power additional equipment such as mixers or refuse units without requiring extra motors, increasing operational efficiency.
One of the key highlights of the new lineup is its fast-charging capability. The long-haul FH Aero Electric supports megawatt charging systems, enabling battery charging from 20% to 80% in approximately 50 minutes. This allows drivers to recharge during mandatory rest periods, ensuring minimal downtime and improved productivity for logistics operations.
Volvo has also focused on performance and driving experience, equipping these trucks with dual electric motors and optimized gearboxes for smoother operation, reduced noise, and better energy efficiency. The trucks are designed to handle heavy loads while maintaining high payload capacity, making them practical for real-world commercial use across multiple transport applications.
With production and market rollout planned from 2026 onwards, Volvo aims to accelerate the transition toward zero-emission freight transport. The company believes that electric trucks will play a major role in the future of logistics, and this new lineup represents a significant step toward replacing diesel trucks with cleaner, more efficient alternatives on a global scale.
