Volvo Trucks has announced a dramatic scaling up of its certified electric-vehicle (EV) dealer network for heavy-duty trucks a clear signal of its growing commitment to sustainable, zero-emission commercial transport. The company says this expansion is critical to support a fast-growing customer base shifting to battery electric semis.
In just a few years, Volvo’s EV-certified dealer network has exploded growing by 8,200% and now comprises 83 dealerships spread across 33 U.S. states and 4 Canadian provinces. This network expansion means significantly more reach for sales and, more importantly, for service and support of electric heavy-duty trucks.
On the deployment side, Volvo reports that over 700 Volvo VNR Electric trucks are already running on North American roads. These trucks have together logged more than 20 million zero-tailpipe miles, helping avoid an estimated 34,000 metric tons of CO₂ emissions.
To ensure the dealer network is truly EV-ready, Volvo requires each certified outlet to complete rigorous training and facility upgrades. Technicians are trained in high-voltage battery systems, electric driveline servicing, and charging infrastructure — all essential to keeping fleet operators’ trucks up and running.
From a strategic perspective, Peter Voorhoeve, President of Volvo Trucks North America, says this rapid dealer expansion reinforces Volvo’s strong push toward sustainable transport. Analysts also note that a deep and capable dealer network is key to maintaining Volvo’s leadership as electric heavy-duty trucking gains traction.
Looking ahead, Volvo ties this network build-out to its broader “three-path” decarbonization strategy — battery-electric, fuel-cell, and efficient combustion engines. As demand for zero-emission logistics continues to grow, the large dealer footprint gives Volvo a strong base to accelerate adoption among commercial fleet operators.
