JSW MG Motor India has marked a significant milestone in its commitment to sustainability by implementing a Green Pretreatment line in its Paint Shop. This initiative, developed in collaboration with PPG Asian Paints, uses an ambient temperature phosphate process at 38°C, replacing the conventional higher temperature method, resulting in a significant reduction in carbon emissions.
Reduction in Carbon Emissions
The new Pretreatment Electrodeposition (PT-ED) line reduces carbon emissions by approximately 1800 tons annually, a major improvement over the traditional process, which operates at higher temperatures (42-50°C). This cutting-edge technology not only lowers emissions but also eliminates the need for fuel heating, significantly reducing fuel consumption.
Enhanced Efficiency and Lower Maintenance
In addition to the environmental benefits, the new technology improves overall process efficiency by simplifying operations. The system also minimizes maintenance needs, contributing to long-term operational savings. This marks a step forward in green manufacturing and operational sustainability for JSW MG Motor India.
Statements from Leadership
Biju Balendran, Deputy Managing Director at JSW MG Motor India, emphasized that sustainability is a core aspect of the company’s innovation and vision. He noted that this new technology sets an industry benchmark for sustainable manufacturing practices, a commitment the company has been pursuing since 2022.
Collaborative Effort for a Sustainable Future
Jitendra Kalra, CEO of PPG Asian Paints, also expressed pride in the partnership with MG Motor, highlighting how their joint efforts are advancing energy conservation. This collaboration plays a vital role in pushing forward sustainability initiatives in the automotive sector, fostering a greener future for the industry.
