Hindustan Zinc, a Vedanta Group company, has deepened its partnership with GreenLine Mobility Solutions to accelerate a significant shift toward green logistics. The collaboration pursues full decarbonization of HZL’s supply chain through the deployment of electric vehicles (EVs) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) trucks.

Under the expanded agreement, GreenLine will invest ₹400 crore (USD 45.7 million) to deliver 100 EV trucks for short-haul transport between mines and smelters, while doubling LNG truck deployment to 200 vehicles for long-distance freight movement.

As part of the initiative, the companies will set up India’s first commercial-scale battery‑swapping infrastructure, featuring three high-capacity stations enabling 24×7 operation to support seamless EV logistics.

GreenLine’s LNG trucks manufactured by Blue Energy Motors—deliver significant reductions in harmful emissions: up to 30% less CO₂, 100% reduction in SOₓ, 59% less NOₓ, 91% fewer particulate emissions, and 70% less CO compared to diesel vehicles.

HZL CEO Arun Misra emphasised that these green logistics integrations align with the company’s SBTi‑approved targets: a 50% cut in Scope 1 & 2 emissions and a 25% reduction in Scope 3 by FY 2030, with a vision of achieving net‑zero emissions by 2050 or sooner.

This move is part of GreenLine’s wider strategy backed by a previous $275 million commitment—to operate over 10,000 LNG and EV trucks across India supported by a nationwide network of 100 LNG refuelling stations, EV charging hubs, and battery‑swapping facilities aimed at cutting up to 1 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.
