French automaker Renault has officially launched its new Twingo E-Tech Electric, an affordable and practical electric city car designed to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in urban Europe. The vehicle debuts with a starting price of €19,490 before government incentives, making it one of the most accessible EVs in its class for daily city driving.
Built specifically for urban environments, the Twingo E-Tech Electric is powered by a 60 kW (82 hp) electric motor and a 27.5 kWh LFP battery, which allows it to travel up to 263 km on a single charge (WLTP). This range is considered sufficient for typical city use, offering both efficiency and practicality for commuters and city dwellers alike.
Renault is offering two main trim levels to appeal to a broad range of buyers. The Evolution base model comes with essential features like a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch touchscreen with smartphone integration, cruise control, and rear parking sensors. The more advanced Techno version adds premium upgrades, including Google built-in services, adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go, and a digital rear-view camera.
To further improve affordability, France’s energy-saving incentives could reduce the effective price of the Twingo E-Tech Electric to around €14,720 for eligible buyers in 2026, reinforcing Renault’s mission to make zero-emission mobility more mainstream. The company hopes that this aggressive pricing strategy will encourage more drivers to transition to electric vehicles.
Despite its compact size of 3.79 metres in length, the Twingo E-Tech Electric offers practical interior space with sliding rear seats and a foldable front passenger seat, providing up to 360 litres of boot space—a notable figure for a car in the A-segment. Charging technology also supports both AC and DC fast charging, with optional upgrades for quicker charging and energy sharing capabilities.
Orders for the new electric Twingo are already underway: priority bookings opened in December 2025 for select markets, with general availability expected in early 2026. Renault plans to sell the Twingo in key European countries including France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Belgium, and the Netherlands, aiming to spark a broader shift toward accessible, zero-emission urban mobility.
