IndiGrid Infrastructure Trust has announced the completion of its acquisition of Gujarat BESS for an enterprise value of about ₹573 crore. The transaction marks IndiGrid’s entry into the battery energy storage system (BESS) segment as part of its portfolio expansion strategy.
The Gujarat BESS project was awarded through a tariff-based competitive bidding process by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam. The project will be developed under a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) framework, allowing IndiGrid to own and operate the asset.
With this acquisition, IndiGrid continues to strengthen its presence in India’s power infrastructure sector. The company is known for owning and operating power transmission and renewable energy assets with long-term contracted revenues.
The battery energy storage project is expected to support grid operations by providing energy storage services. Such projects are increasingly becoming important for improving grid flexibility as renewable energy capacity grows in India.
IndiGrid stated that the acquisition aligns with its strategy to diversify into new infrastructure opportunities while maintaining focus on assets that provide stable and predictable returns.
Through this development, IndiGrid continues to position itself as a diversified infrastructure investment platform, while exploring opportunities aligned with India’s evolving energy transition needs.
