The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has concluded the auction for its 1,500 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) tender, with Waaree Forever Energies, NTPC Renewable Energy (NTPC REL) and ACME Solar emerging as successful bidders. The discovered tariffs ranged from ₹5.99 per kWh to ₹6 per kWh.

Waaree Forever Energies secured the largest allocation of 700 MW at the lowest tariff of ₹5.99 per kWh. NTPC REL won 500 MW at ₹6 per kWh, while ACME Solar secured the remaining 300 MW at the same tariff.

The tender, issued under the SECI-FDRE-IX programme, is designed to procure assured peak renewable power from interstate transmission system-connected renewable energy projects. The total requirement is structured as 1,500 MW of capacity supplied for four hours, equivalent to 6,000 MWh of assured peak energy.

SECI had initially issued the Request for Selection for 1,200 MW, or 4,800 MWh, of renewable energy capacity in June 2026. The tender was later revised to procure 6,000 MWh of assured peak power, increasing the capacity requirement to 1,500 MW for four hours of daily supply.

The latest auction highlights the increasing focus on firm and dispatchable renewable energy as India expands its clean power capacity. Such projects are intended to improve the availability of renewable electricity during peak-demand periods while supporting greater integration of variable renewable generation into the grid.

With the full 1,500 MW capacity allocated among the three successful bidders, the SECI-FDRE-IX auction marks another development in India’s evolving renewable energy procurement framework. The tariff discovery of ₹5.99 per kWh to ₹6 per kWh also reflects the growing competitiveness of assured renewable power for meeting peak electricity demand.
