Recharge Power and Energy Decarb have entered into a strategic joint venture to develop solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Australia. The partnership marks Recharge Power’s latest international expansion and is aimed at capturing opportunities in one of the world’s fastest-growing renewable energy markets. The companies have already secured an active project pipeline totaling 128MW/292MWh, which will be delivered through the newly established joint venture.
According to the companies, the projects are expected to be progressively completed over the next two years. The initial phase of development will focus on commercial and industrial customers, including hotels, shopping centres, manufacturing facilities, logistics hubs, and sports venues seeking to reduce energy costs and improve energy reliability.
The joint venture plans to offer integrated solar and battery storage EPC solutions along with Energy Service Company (ESCO) services. These solutions are designed to help businesses optimize electricity consumption, strengthen energy resilience, and create additional revenue opportunities through participation in Australia’s electricity market.
Recharge Power will contribute its expertise in battery energy storage systems, including proprietary Energy Management System (EMS) software, project engineering, construction, and long-term operations and maintenance services. Energy Decarb will provide local market knowledge, project development capabilities, and electricity trading expertise to support project execution and growth.
Company executives stated that the partnership aims to replicate the success Recharge Power has achieved in Taiwan and Japan. By combining technical capabilities with local market experience, both companies expect to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy infrastructure and capitalize on Australia’s ongoing energy transition.
Australia has emerged as one of the leading global markets for energy storage investments. Industry data cited by the companies shows that investment in battery energy storage projects reached AUD 4.8 billion in 2025, representing a 67% year-on-year increase. Through this joint venture, Recharge Power and Energy Decarb aim to strengthen their position in Australia’s growing solar and energy storage sector while supporting the country’s decarbonization goals.
