Tata Motors has hinted that the C-segment coupe SUV, known as the Curvv, may be on sale in the upcoming weeks. The Curvv EV will go on sale alongside the Curvv diesel and petrol versions, as V3Cars reported earlier this year. The Punch EV and the forthcoming Tata Curvv EV share the same Activ.ev electric vehicle platform.
The teased Tata Curvv EV, Petrol, and Diesel Variants
Tata Motors has revealed design cues for the 2024 Curvv EV, including a shark-fin antenna, sloping roofline, and linked LED taillamps, in the first official teaser for the petrol and diesel versions of the car. At the 2024 Bharat Mobility Expo, Tata Motors unveiled a close to production version of the Curvv ICE, and we anticipate that the majority of the design will be carried over to the production-spec SUV. The Curvv EV will likely be able to be distinguished from the Curvv petrol and diesel by having an enclosed grille and a connected LED DRL up front, just like the Nexon EV and Nexon IC
The inclusion of hashtags for the Curvv and Curvv EV in Tata’s social media posts is intriguing, though. This gives us confidence that, as we previously stated this year, the Curvv’s ICE and electric variants will be sold concurrently.
What to Expect from the Tata Curvv EV
Some of the elements of the next coupe SUV have been made public by a number of spy photos of the Tata Curvv ICE and EV. The Curvv EV is anticipated to have a 4-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata emblem, similar to the larger Harrier SUV, in contrast to the Punch EV and Nexon EV, which have a 2-spoke steering wheel. It is anticipated that the dashboard layout of the Curvv EV and the Nexon EV would be comparable. It is anticipated that Tata would provide the Curvv with a pair of 12.3-inch screens for the infotainment system and driver’s display, which will support wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Additionally, ADAS technologies including blind spot identification, collision avoidance assistance, and lane-keeping assist are anticipated for the Tata Curvv EV. Additionally, high-end options like heated and ventilated front seats, an electronic sunroof, and a wireless charger should be anticipated.
Additionally, flush door handles—a first for Tata Motors—will be available on the Tata Curvv. We first saw this feature in the pre-production Curvv at the 2024 Bharat Mobility Expo. SUVs from the sector above, such as the Mahindra XUV700, have been observed to have it. Regarding safety, the Curvv EV is expected to come equipped with six airbags as standard, and the mid and upper variants may also have a 360-degree surround view monitor.
Options for the 2024 Tata Curvv Powertrain
Similar to the Nexon, the Tata Curvv will be available with a variety of drivetrain options, such as electric, diesel, and gasoline. The Curvv ICE will be available with the same engine options as the Nexon, according to Tata Motors. Thus, anticipate the coupe SUV to go on sale with a 1.5-liter diesel and a 1.2-liter turbocharged engine. Multiple transmission options, such as a 6-speed manual, an automatic manual transmission (AMT), and a dual-clutch transmission (DCT), are anticipated for the Tata Curvv ICE.
The Curvv EV’s powertrain parameters have not yet been made public by Tata Motors. But compared to the Nexon EV, which comes with a 40.5kWh battery pack, we anticipate that it will offer a larger battery pack. As the Curvv EV is slated to replace the Nexon EV as Tata’s premier electric car, we anticipate that it will have a range of approximately 500 km compared to the 465 km of the Nexon EV long range models. The all-electric version of the future Citroen Basalt EV and the Hyundai Creta EV will be competitors of the Tata Curvv EV when it is introduced.
