To promote EVs and solar energy use for EV charging in Rajasthan, the Rajasthan Solar Association (RSA) and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, a division of Tata Motors, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Customers who have already installed a solar power system at their home or place of business will be eligible for an additional discount when they buy a Tata EV. RSA will oversee the certification process to ensure that eligible Rajasthani clients can benefit from the applicable discount. The association will also disseminate information about the benefits of TPEM’s electric vehicle portfolio throughout the state.
“Rooftop solar offers EV owners a unique opportunity with the dual benefits of affordable power and emission-free mobility,” said Balaje Rajan, Chief Strategy Officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles.
Currently, over 90% of EV customers charge at home, while around 30% of EV users use rooftop solar. By taking advantage of this synergy, EV users can effectively lower their gasoline costs and enable true zero-cost mobility. As part of our efforts to improve EV infrastructure, we have introduced packages that include rooftop solar installations when purchasing our EVs.
According to Nitin Agarwal, CEO of the Rajasthan Solar Association, “this collaboration will mark a revolutionary step in Rajasthan’s electric vehicle consumption as it combines solar power with EVs, representing a significant step in fostering green energy and reducing reliance on traditional fuels, marking a major milestone in Rajasthan’s journey towards a sustainable future.
