Ather Energy, India’s leading electric two-wheeler manufacturer, today  announced a series of significant product and technology developments at the third edition of Ather  Community Day 2025. Ather unveiled its highly anticipated all-new EL platform, its first vehicle architecture  since the 450. Built for versatility, scalability, and cost optimisation, the EL platform sets the stage for an  entirely new generation of Ather scooters across multiple segments, redefining what performance, choice,  and innovation mean for Indian riders.

Ather also introduced AtherStackTM 7.0, featuring voice as a new medium of interaction with scooters,  along with a host of new features designed to make tech more intuitive and easy to use. In addition, Ather  announced its next-generation fast charger, enabling quicker charging for EV owners, along with updates  to its existing product lineup.

Tarun Mehta, Co-founder & CEO, Ather Energy, said, “With the EL platform, we are laying the foundation  for Ather’s next phase of growth. Just as the 450 defined our first chapter, EL will define the next, enabling  us to develop multiple types of scooters at scale far more efficiently. This platform-first approach enables  faster innovation and improved efficiency, serviceability, and rider experience. EL reflects years of learning,  deep R&D, and engineering. Our new factory at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar will scale with EL platform  products to meet growing demand effectively.”

EL Platform

Ather’s next-generation EL platform is designed to meet the evolving and diverse needs of electric scooter  buyers in India. The EL platform offers the flexibility to build a wide variety of form factors by utilising a  common set of key components. It has been designed on the back of 26 Lakh kms of field data and  features a new chassis, powertrain, and fully redesigned electronics stack. The versatility it offers enables  Ather to cater to different consumer segments, use cases, and markets while being more cost-effective.  The simpler architecture and reduced component count enable 15% faster assembly. This also allows up  to 2X faster periodic services, increasing the service interval up to 10,000 km.

The EL platform also introduces significant advancements to safety and convenience. Safety is improved  through the Advanced Electronic Braking System (AEBS), which enhances braking performance by  reducing stopping distance and minimizing rear-wheel lockups. Convenience is elevated via the Ather  Charge Drive Controller, which integrates an onboard charger with a motor controller, removing the need  for customers to carry their portable chargers.

Redux

Ather also showcased Redux, a concept moto-scooter that offers a glimpse into the future of performance.  Designed with an ‘inside out’ approach, Redux redefines how intuitive a vehicle can be, masterfully  combining the nimbleness of a scooter with the dynamics of a motorcycle. The vehicle feels like a natural  extension of your body and is built around responsiveness and adaptability. It features a lightweight  aluminium frame, a 3D-printed lattice mesh seat, and body panels crafted from future-ready materials like  AmplyTex.

It introduces experiences such as adaptive ride dynamics, posture-based transformation from scooter to  sport bike, and Morph-UI, a next-gen HMI that transforms based on riding context to truly adapt to the  rider’s intent. It also builds a new, thrilling experience called “Take off”, designed to launch your vehicle  forward with ultra-fast acceleration. Redux is a collection of all these mechanical and digital explorations,  showcasing Ather’s vision for the future of intelligence and performance.

AtherstackTM 7.0

Ather will also release AtherStackTM 7.0, the biggest upgrade to its proprietary technology stack that  powers all magical experiences on Ather scooters. AtherStackTM 7.0 is designed to make technology more  mainstream and intuitive for riders by introducing a new medium of interaction with the scooter via voice.  Unlike traditional voice assistants, it uses natural language capabilities, enabling seamless conversations.  AtherStackTM 7.0 can proactively alert riders to share live location, update them on tyre pressure, and other  important information.

Swapnil Jain, Co-founder & CTO at Ather Energy, said, “At Ather, we have always focused on simplifying  technology and making it mainstream for riders. With AtherStackTM 7.0, we’re bringing AI into everyday  riding through an LLM (Large Language Model) trained for our use cases and tuned to Indian dialects.  Voice is the first step in that journey, an interface beyond buttons that makes rides smarter, safer, and more  intuitive. It also makes our existing suite of AtherStackTM 7.0 features more accessible and mainstream for  everyday use.”

Rider safety features like Pothole Alerts and Crash Alerts have also been introduced to enhance rider  safety. Leveraging data from lakhs of Ather scooters nationwide, Pothole Alerts warn riders of a bad patch  of road or potential potholes and suggest better routes, complemented by proactive voice notifications  when approaching rough patches. Crash Alerts distinguish between minor and severe accidents, and  automatically notify emergency contacts with live location, while also displaying critical rider details on the  dashboard.

Ather has also strengthened vehicle security by expanding its theft-safety suite with the introduction of  ParkSafeTM and LockSafeTM features. ParkSafeTM builds on the theft and tow alerts feature launched in  2021, using fleet intelligence to notify owners about potentially unsafe parking zones. LockSafe adds the  ability to remotely immobilize the scooter directly from the app. In addition, new remote-control features  allow owners to start or stop charging or even shut down the vehicle from anywhere. AtherStack™ 7.0 will  roll out as an over-the-air (OTA) update in the coming months, and will be backward compatible with the  Rizta Z and the Ather 450X up to Gen 3 scooters.

Complementing the software upgrade, Ather has unveiled updates to the Ather HALOTM smart helmet. This  includes new colours, emergency pull-out padding, a pinlock compatible anti-fog visor, and USB-C

charging. HALO’s premium sound with noise reduction ensures a seamless integration with the scooter’s  voice capabilities.

Infinite Cruise

Ather has also updated the 2025 Ather 450 Apex with Infinite CruiseTM, its own advanced cruise control  system designed specifically for Indian riding conditions. Infinite Cruise delivers three distinct experiences  tailored for varied scenarios – CityCruiseTM, Hill Control, and Crawl Control. CityCruiseTM works across  speeds, from slow city rides to 90 km/h on highways, without disengaging when the rider brakes or  changes speed, adapting seamlessly to the new pace. Hill Control manages inclines with ease, precisely  delivering torque for uphill climbs. It uses the Magic Braking Algorithm (which powers Magic TwistTM) for  downhill descents, maintaining a consistent speed through regenerative braking without manual  intervention. Crawl Control ensures smooth low-speed navigation on rough or uneven roads at speeds as  low as 10 km/h. Crawl Control is enhanced with Multimode Traction Control for stability on wet or slippery  surfaces. Infinite CruiseTM will also roll out on the 2025 Ather 450 Apex in the coming months.

Rizta

Ather announced a major upgrade for the Rizta Z, where every existing customer will now receive an OTA  update that activates full touchscreen functionality, made possible by the advanced hardware already built  into the scooter. Existing owners will also receive an OTA update that activates touchscreen functionality  and Eco Mode in the next few weeks. The Rizta Z is now available in a new Terracotta Red colour with a  super-matte, dual-tone finish, adding a distinctive option to the lineup. The update also introduces a  refreshed user interface and a new Eco Mode, giving riders the ability to balance performance with range.

Next Generation Faster Charging

Ather also unveiled its next-generation fast charging experience, designed to enhance convenience with  faster charging. The new 6 kW charger is half the size of the current Ather fast charger and delivers double  the speed in select Ather variants, adding up to 30 km of range in just 10 minutes. Select Ather fast  chargers also feature a built-in tyre inflator to tackle low pressure and increase range. With the LECCS  standard now adopted by 10 partners including OEMs such as Hero Vida, Matter and charge point

operators like Bolt, Kazam, EVamp, interoperability across the industry is stronger than ever.
