Ather Unveils Budget-Friendly EL EV Scooter Concept on August 30

Ather Energy is poised to launch its most affordable electric scooter concept, named the EL, at its annual Community Day event scheduled for August 30, 2025. This new model is expected to be priced under ₹1 lakh, aiming to make electric mobility more accessible to middle-class Indian families.

Built on a new modular ‘EL platform’, Ather’s concept leverages design and technological learnings from its premium models 450 and Rizta while focusing on cost-efficiency and scalability. CEO Tarun Mehta emphasized that this platform combines affordability with Ather’s performance and technical standards.

Teasers reveal a family-oriented, practical design, showcasing a conventional silhouette with flat footboard, modular components, and battery-swap capability. Retaining familiar Ather styling elements helps streamline production and manage costs effectively.

Production of the EL is expected in 2026, with the concept previewed this year. Anticipated to be manufactured at Ather’s new factory in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), the scooter targets the growing entry-level EV segment in India.

Ather will also highlight ecosystem upgrades during the event including next-generation fast-charging stations and the unveiling of Ather Stack 7.0, its updated software platform aimed at enhancing user connectivity and ride experience.

This strategic move reflects Ather’s push into the sub-₹1 lakh market, addressing stiff competition from brands like Ola, TVS, Bajaj, Vida, and Greaves. The EL platform marks the brand’s intent to combine innovation with affordability to expand its reach across India.
