ChargeZone and Fresh Bus have expanded their existing partnership to support the deployment of 400 additional all-electric intercity buses across India. With this expansion, the number of Fresh Bus electric buses supported by ChargeZone’s charging infrastructure will increase from 100 to 500, strengthening the companies’ focus on expanding electric intercity mobility.
The expanded partnership is planned to roll out over the next 15 months and is expected to connect 20 cities and 17 additional towns across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The development will help Fresh Bus expand its electric intercity operations across key routes in southern India while relying on dedicated charging infrastructure.
To support the additional electric bus fleet, ChargeZone will deploy 30 MW of new charging capacity. This will be added to the 10 MW of dedicated charging infrastructure already deployed for Fresh Bus, taking the total charging capacity dedicated to the partnership to 40 MW.
The additional infrastructure is also part of ChargeZone’s broader plan to add around 200 MW of charging capacity across its national network. The company currently operates more than 15,000 charging points across India, highlighting its focus on developing charging infrastructure for large commercial EV fleets.
At full scale, the expanded partnership is expected to deliver around 100 million units of electricity annually and support more than 20,000 passenger journeys every day. The companies also estimate that the initiative could help avoid approximately 9,000–10,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually, supporting the wider shift toward cleaner intercity transportation.
ChargeZone Founder and CEO Kartikey Hariyani said the expansion demonstrates the importance of reliable charging infrastructure in enabling large-scale electrification of commercial and intercity public transport. Fresh Bus Founder Sudhakar Reddy also highlighted the role of the charging network in helping the company move from testing electric intercity bus operations to scaling services across multiple routes.
