India’s electric mobility transition received a significant boost as commercial electric vehicle leasing platform DRIVN announced a strategic partnership with Prasanna Purple Mobility Solutions to deploy 100 electric buses across major intercity routes. The collaboration is aimed at accelerating the adoption of zero-emission buses in the private intercity transport sector through an asset-light leasing model that lowers the financial burden on fleet operators.

The first batch of electric buses is expected to enter service between July and August 2026. Initial operations will cover some of India’s busiest travel corridors, including Mumbai–Pune, Bengaluru–Chennai, and Hyderabad–Vijayawada. Both companies are also evaluating additional routes to expand the electric fleet in the coming months as demand for sustainable intercity transportation continues to grow.

Under the agreement, DRIVN will provide the buses through its long-term operating lease model, allowing Prasanna Purple to expand its electric fleet without making heavy upfront capital investments. Along with vehicle financing, DRIVN will offer long-term fleet support, helping operators improve efficiency while simplifying the transition from conventional diesel buses to electric mobility.

Speaking about the collaboration, Alpna Jain, Co-founder and Chief Business Officer of DRIVN, said that large-scale commercial vehicle electrification requires financing solutions that make electric mobility commercially viable for operators. She added that the company’s operating lease model provides predictable long-term capital while its technology platform enables better fleet management, operational efficiency, and revenue optimisation.

Saurabh P. Patwardhan, Director of Prasanna Group, described the partnership as an important milestone in building a cleaner and more sustainable future for intercity travel. He said the deployment of electric buses will provide passengers with reliable, comfortable, and efficient transportation while creating a scalable model that encourages wider adoption of electric buses across India’s private transport industry.

The partnership reflects the shared vision of both companies to reduce carbon emissions and accelerate the electrification of India’s intercity passenger transport network. By combining DRIVN’s technology-enabled leasing platform with Prasanna Purple’s operational expertise, the initiative is expected to strengthen the country’s electric bus ecosystem and support the long-term growth of sustainable mobility across key intercity corridors.
