Fresh Bus, an intercity electric bus operator, has launched its annual Best Captain Award programme to recognise bus captains for consistently safe driving and responsible fleet management. The initiative offers monetary rewards of up to ₹1 lakh to captains who maintain high safety standards. The programme aims to strengthen passenger safety and encourage responsible driving practices across the company’s operations.

The annual award cycle will run from October 20, 2026, to October 9, 2027, covering the period between Vijayadashami 2026 and Vijayadashami 2027. Under the programme, bus captains will be evaluated through a 100-point scoring framework covering safety and fleet management performance.

The reward structure includes three categories based on the scores achieved by captains. Those securing a perfect score of 100 will receive ₹1 lakh. Captains scoring between 85 and 99 points will receive ₹75,000, while those achieving scores between 70 and 84 points will be awarded ₹50,000.

Fresh Bus has confirmed that there will be no cap on the number of award winners. Every captain qualifying for a particular category will be eligible to receive the full reward. With a workforce of more than 500 captains, the programme could result in an annual payout exceeding ₹5 crore, depending on the number of eligible recipients.

The evaluation process will be based on documented records and verified data to maintain transparency and consistency in the selection process. Along with monetary incentives, award recipients will receive certificates and recognition on depot notice boards. Fresh Bus also stated that several drivers associated with the company since 2023 have demonstrated strong driving practices and achieved perfect safety scores.

Sudhakar Chirra, Founder and CEO of Fresh Bus, said that safety remains central to the company’s operations. He highlighted that the award programme aims to recognise the dedication of bus captains and encourage responsible driving practices. The initiative builds on the company’s focus on recognising drivers who contribute to safer fleet operations.
