Greaves Electric Mobility has overtaken Ola Electric in daily registration numbers on the government’s Vahan portal, highlighting intensifying competition among EV makers. This development comes as overall E-2W registrations in the country continue to expand amid growing consumer interest in electric vehicles.

According to the latest Vahan registration figures, Greaves Electric Mobility recorded a higher number of new electric two-wheeler registrations than Ola Electric on a recent reporting day in early January 2026, indicating stronger immediate demand for Greaves’ offerings on that specific day.

Industry observers say that Greaves’ performance has been buoyed by its Ampere scooter lineup, which has been positioned to appeal to a broad set of buyers with competitive pricing and features tailored for Indian roads. This strategy, combined with expanded sales and service outreach, appears to be gaining traction in urban and semi-urban markets.

For Ola Electric, which has been one of the most high-profile players in the Indian EV space, the recent lower registration numbers reflect broader market headwinds and intensifying rivalry from both legacy two-wheeler manufacturers and agile EV firms. As other brands like TVS Motor Company, Bajaj Auto and Ather Energy maintain strong monthly sales figures, Ola’s position has seen fluctuations in recent months.

It’s important to note that daily registration figures do not necessarily reflect overall sales leadership. Ola Electric continues to be a significant player in the E-2W segment, with strong cumulative sales and a large retail network across India. Meanwhile, legacy OEMs like Bajaj Auto and TVS often top broader monthly and yearly sales charts.

Market analysts say this shift highlights how competitive India’s electric two-wheeler market has become, with multiple companies vying for consumer attention and constantly adjusting strategies to gain share. The overall E-2W registration numbers in India remain robust, suggesting continued growth potential for all players in the sector.
