AET: How is the pre-owned luxury car market in India changing, and what opportunities do you see for its future growth?

Himanshu: India’s pre-owned luxury car market is growing as younger buyers look to own premium brands at more accessible prices. The biggest opportunity lies in building buyer trust through transparent pricing, verified vehicle history and quality assurance. As awareness grows beyond metro cities, the market has significant potential for further expansion.

AET: What measures can help buyers feel more confident when purchasing a pre-owned luxury car?

Himanshu: Buyers need complete transparency about a car’s service history, ownership records and mechanical condition. A thorough inspection, clear documentation and honest pricing can go a long way in building confidence. Equally important is having a reliable point of contact after the purchase, so buyers know they have support if any concerns arise.

AET: How are buyers’ expectations evolving in terms of quality, pricing and the overall experience of purchasing a pre-owned luxury vehicle?

Himanshu: Buyers today are doing their homework before making a decision. They want a car that is in good condition, priced fairly and comes with a clear service history. But the experience matters just as much. They expect honest advice, a hassle-free buying process and support even after the car is delivered. In this market, trust is what ultimately makes the difference.

AET: What are the biggest challenges buyers face in the pre-owned luxury car market, and how can these be addressed?

Himanshu: The biggest challenge for buyers is knowing whether a car is worth the price being asked. Concerns around hidden repairs, service history and maintenance costs can make the decision difficult. These concerns can be addressed through proper vehicle inspections, verified records and transparent pricing. Buyers should have all the information they need to make a decision without any surprises after the purchase.

AET: How important are a vehicle’s service history and condition in determining its resale value?

Himanshu: A car’s service history and condition play a major role in determining its resale value, especially in the luxury segment. Regular servicing, genuine parts and proper maintenance can help a car retain its value. Buyers are also more willing to pay a fair price when they have clear records and confidence in the vehicle’s condition. Ultimately, how well a car has been maintained matters as much as its brand.

AET: What emerging trends do you believe will shape the future of India’s pre-owned luxury car industry?

Himanshu: Younger buyers entering the luxury car market, growing digital adoption and rising demand for quality-checked vehicles will shape the industry’s future. Buyers are also becoming more particular about transparency and the overall purchase experience. As trust in organised pre-owned car platforms grows, I believe the market will see more buyers willing to consider a pre-owned luxury car as a sensible ownership choice.
