Jeep has officially revealed its 2026 Recon EV, marking the brand’s first fully electric SUV designed to uphold its storied off-road legacy. Built to meet Jeep’s “Trail Rated” standards, the Recon EV delivers serious ruggedness while embracing clean, electric power.

Under the hood, the Recon EV is powered by dual electric drive modules, one for each axle, giving it true four-wheel drive capability. Jeep claims an impressive 650 horsepower and 840 Nm of torque, delivering strong, instantaneous acceleration across challenging terrain. The SUV houses a 100 kWh battery pack, offering an estimated driving range of around 450 km under favorable conditions.

When it comes to off-road performance, the Recon EV doesn’t disappoint. Its ground clearance is maximized — particularly on the Moab trim, which comes with 33-inch all-terrain tires. To adapt to a variety of surfaces, drivers can select from five drive modes: Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand, and Rock, all managed via Jeep’s Selec-Terrain system. Additionally, the vehicle features an electronic locking differential to ensure torque is distributed efficiently across the wheels. For that classic Jeep feel, the Recon EV retains removable doors, a removable roof rack, and rear-quarter glass, allowing for an open-air driving experience.

In terms of performance metrics, Jeep estimates the Recon EV can go from 0–100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds, placing it firmly in sports-SUV territory. Despite being an electric vehicle, its underbody is equipped with robust protective shielding to safeguard critical electric components from off-road hazards.

On the production front, the Recon EV is built on Stellantis’ STLA Large platform, which the company has designed specifically for large electric vehicles. Manufacturing is slated to begin in 2026 at Stellantis’ plant in Toluca, Mexico. In the U.S., the starting price is expected to be around US$ 65,000, positioning it as a premium offering in the EV SUV segment.

Strategically, the Recon EV represents Jeep’s bold move to compete more aggressively in the electric off-road market. It reinforces Jeep’s commitment to blending its adventurous heritage with modern EV technology. For Stellantis as a whole, the vehicle underscores a broader push toward electrification — using scalable EV platforms not just for city SUVs, but rugged trailblazers too.
