Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan has said the state government aims to modernise the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), upgrade its facilities and make the organisation more professionally managed. He made the remarks while flagging off seven new KSRTC services and inaugurating the construction of a new bus waiting centre at North Paravur.

The new services include five Priyadarshini ordinary services connecting Chathanad, Thattappally, Gothuruth and Puthenvelikkara with destinations including Kalamassery Medical College, Aluva, Ernakulam and Thrippunithura. Two new services to Mysuru have also been introduced.

KSRTC is also expanding its interstate connectivity. New services to Palani and Madurai are scheduled to begin on October 23, while a service to Velankanni is planned from October 31.

The government is further strengthening infrastructure, with ₹4 crore allocated for the first phase of the Paravur KSRTC stand. A modern facility will subsequently be developed at a total estimated cost of ₹10 crore.

Satheesan also highlighted growing support from private individuals and public representatives for fleet expansion. Under the government’s 100-day action programme, individuals, institutions and organisations can sponsor buses to strengthen public transport services.
