Ola Electric Enters Utility-Scale Energy Storage with Axis Energy Partnership

Ola Electric has announced its entry into the utility-scale energy storage segment by signing its first Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Axis Energy. The partnership marks a significant step in the company’s expansion beyond electric mobility as it aims to strengthen its presence in India’s rapidly growing battery energy storage market.

Under the agreement, Ola Electric and Axis Energy will jointly explore the deployment of up to 20 GWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) by 2032. The planned projects are intended to support renewable energy integration, improve grid reliability, and enable efficient energy storage for large-scale power applications.

The collaboration will focus on leveraging Ola Electric’s upcoming Mahashakti utility-scale energy storage platform. The company is positioning Mahashakti as its next major offering in the battery storage space, following its entry into the residential energy storage market earlier this year.

Axis Energy, a renewable energy developer with a growing portfolio of clean energy projects, is expected to work with Ola Electric to evaluate and deploy battery storage solutions across suitable utility-scale installations. The partnership is designed to enhance renewable energy utilization while supporting the increasing demand for reliable energy storage infrastructure in India.

For Ola Electric, the MoU represents its first commercial collaboration in the utility-scale BESS segment. The move aligns with the company’s broader strategy of expanding its battery technology and energy solutions business alongside its electric vehicle operations. The company has been developing multiple energy storage products based on its in-house battery technology platform.

With India’s renewable energy capacity continuing to grow, demand for utility-scale battery storage is expected to increase in the coming years. Through its partnership with Axis Energy, Ola Electric aims to establish a strong foothold in this emerging sector while contributing to a more resilient and sustainable power ecosystem.
