Italian energy company Plenitude has partnered with renowned design firm Pininfarina to create a new concept for electric vehicle charging areas. The collaboration aims to transform traditional charging points into modern, well-designed spaces that combine technology, aesthetics, and user comfort for EV drivers.
The project focuses on developing innovative charging hubs that are visually distinctive and easy to recognize. These stations are planned to adapt to different environments such as cities, highways, and regional locations while maintaining a consistent and attractive design identity.
Under the partnership, Plenitude will contribute its expertise in EV charging infrastructure and energy solutions, while Pininfarina will handle the architectural design and user-experience aspects. The goal is to create charging areas that are functional, ergonomic, and well integrated into their surroundings.
A key idea behind the concept is to improve the time drivers spend while their vehicles are charging. Instead of being simple power points, the new hubs could include additional services and comfortable spaces that make the waiting period more convenient and enjoyable for EV users.
As part of the collaboration, a pilot installation will be set up at Pininfarina’s headquarters in Cambiano, Italy. The site will include four charging points—two AC chargers with up to 22 kW capacity and two DC chargers capable of delivering up to 50 kW.
Through this partnership, both companies aim to support the growth of electric mobility by making charging infrastructure more appealing, accessible, and user-friendly. By combining advanced technology with high-quality design, the initiative seeks to redefine how drivers experience EV charging stations in the future.
