JTA International Investment Holding (JTA) and WATT Electric Vehicle Company (WATT) announced a landmark long-term strategic partnership to establish Qatar’s first electric vehicle manufacturing plant and jointly design, engineer and manufacture a new generation of electric vehicles specifically developed for the Gulf region.

The vehicles will be engineered in the United Kingdom and manufactured in a new state-of-the-art production facility in Qatar, creating an advanced industrial capability under the “Made in Qatar” brand and supporting the country’s long-term ambition to become a regional centre for advanced manufacturing, innovation and sustainable mobility.

The partnership was formally announced during a ceremony in Doha by Dr Amir Ali Salemi Zadeh, Founder and CEO of JTA International Investment Holding, and Neil Yates, Founder and CEO of WATT Electric Vehicle Company, following extensive strategic discussions and joint planning between the two organisations in London and Doha.

Dr Amir Ali Salemi Zadeh, Founder and CEO of JTA Investment Holding, said: “This partnership reflects JTA international  Investment Holding’s commitment to investing in advanced technologies that create lasting economic and industrial value for Qatar. Together with WATT and its award-winning engineering expertise, we will develop electric vehicles specifically designed for the Gulf region: vehicles engineered around local operating conditions, the region’s demanding climate and the expectations of customers across Qatar and the GCC.

This project goes far beyond manufacturing vehicles. It represents the creation of a new industrial capability for Qatar that will accelerate technology transfer, strengthen local manufacturing, create highly skilled employment opportunities and contribute directly to the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.

Our vision is to establish a globally competitive electric vehicle manufacturing platform that positions Qatar as a regional leader in advanced manufacturing, clean mobility and automotive innovation while creating sustainable long-term value for future generations.”

Neil Yates, Founder and CEO of WATT Electric Vehicle Company, said: “Our partnership with JTA Investment Holding marks a defining milestone in WATT’s international growth. Our proprietary electric vehicle platform, developed and validated in the United Kingdom, enables the rapid and commercially efficient development of highly customised electric vehicles while significantly reducing development time and manufacturing costs.

Our engineering teams are superbly positioned to design vehicles specifically for the Gulf’s demanding environmental conditions, from advanced thermal management and battery performance in extreme temperatures to the usage patterns and preferences of customers throughout the region.

Combined with JTA’s strategic vision, investment capability and extensive regional network, this partnership creates an exceptional opportunity to establish a world-class electric vehicle manufacturing programme in Qatar and demonstrate how British engineering excellence and Qatari investment can build a globally competitive advanced manufacturing industry.”

The partnership covers every stage of vehicle development, including proprietary platform technology, complete vehicle engineering, product development, production planning and the establishment of advanced manufacturing capabilities in Qatar.

At the centre of the programme is the creation of a state-of-the-art electric vehicle manufacturing facility that will initially serve the domestic market before expanding exports throughout the GCC and selected international markets.

The project will leverage WATT’s patented lightweight aluminium architecture and proprietary electric vehicle platform, enabling the rapid development of highly customised vehicles while delivering exceptional capital efficiency, shorter development cycles and greater manufacturing flexibility.

JTA International  Investment Holding will contribute its investment capability, strategic industrial vision, international partnerships and regional market expertise to accelerate implementation and support the successful establishment of Qatar’s electric vehicle manufacturing industry.

Beyond vehicle production, the programme will strengthen regional supply chains, encourage research and development, support the localisation of advanced manufacturing technologies and help develop the highly skilled workforce required for Qatar’s future industrial economy.

WATT’s engineering excellence received international recognition in June 2026 when its proprietary PACES platform was named winner of the Innovation Award at the Autocar Awards 2026, judged in partnership with Siemens.

During the awards ceremony, WATT Founder and CEO Neil Yates appeared alongside leading automotive industry figures including Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Lamborghini, Bono Ge, Head of BYD UK, and Mark Rushbrook, Global Director of Ford Racing, highlighting the calibre of engineering expertise WATT brings to this strategic partnership.

Fully aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030, the partnership supports economic diversification, industrial innovation, advanced manufacturing and the transition towards sustainable transportation.

More importantly, it establishes the foundation for a long-term industrial programme that is expected to position Qatar among the emerging global centres for electric vehicle design, advanced manufacturing and clean mobility, while strengthening industrial cooperation between Qatar and the United Kingdom for decades to come.

Following completion of detailed implementation planning, the partners expect to commence factory development and joint vehicle programmes, laying the foundations for a globally competitive electric vehicle manufacturing industry in Qatar.
