Relux Electric, one of India’s leading electric vehicle charging infrastructure providers, has unveiled ambitious plans to scale up its public and highway charging network beyond its stronghold in South India, aiming for a pan-India presence. The company highlighted its existing accomplishments and detailed future expansion strategies to support the nation’s rapidly growing EV ecosystem.
Currently, Relux Electric has successfully deployed over 200 charging stations, offering more than 500 individual charging points in major urban centres and along key highway corridors across South India. These include cities such as Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Kochi and Vijayawada, as well as on busy inter-city routes, ensuring greater charging accessibility for EV users.
The company’s charging portfolio includes a range of DC fast chargers, designed to meet different use needs. These comprise 30 kW units for residential complexes and fleet depots, 60 kW chargers for urban top-ups, and 120 kW to 180 kW high-power chargers along highways for quicker charging of cars and commercial vehicles. Relux Electric is also exploring even higher-capacity chargers to match evolving industry demand.
Relux’s expansion will follow a phased approach. In the current phase, the focus remains on consolidating leadership in the southern states and on major highways. Over the next 12–18 months, the company plans to enter new markets such as Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi-NCR and Rajasthan, securing key real estate sites, strategic partnerships and regulatory approvals to broaden its network footprint.
To support this growth, Relux Electric has already secured INR 250 crore in project funding, which the company intends to use to establish over 300 additional charging stations and more than 1,000 new charging points across existing and new regions. Part of the funding will also enhance technology platforms, user apps and high-power charging capabilities, alongside efforts to strengthen operational talent and partnerships.
Beyond public and highway charging, Relux Electric is collaborating with automakers, fleet operators and state bodies including entities like the Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation to deploy charging infrastructure at customer-friendly locations and improve interoperability across networks. While public charging remains the core focus, the company also supports home and workplace charging solutions through partner consultations and services.
