In a major step towards promoting sustainable mobility, Tata Power and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. have launched Mumbai’s first large-scale premium EV charging hub under the TATA.ev MegaCharger initiative. The facility, inaugurated on World EV Day, is strategically located near Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, within the premises of The Leela Mumbai Hotel. The hub aims to cater to a wide range of electric vehicle users, including private car owners, taxis, ride-hailing fleets, and logistics operators.

The MegaCharger hub features eight fast DC chargers, each capable of delivering up to 120 kW, across 16 charging bays. This design allows simultaneous charging of multiple vehicles, significantly reducing wait times. The facility operates 24/7 and runs entirely on renewable energy, reflecting Tata’s commitment to green mobility solutions.

Its strategic location ensures easy accessibility for travelers, hotel guests, and professionals commuting across the Andheri–Bandra Kurla Complex–South Mumbai corridor. Being close to the airport and a luxury hotel, the hub supports both business and leisure travelers, encouraging greater adoption of electric vehicles in urban areas.

While the hub is open to all EV users, TATA.ev customers receive exclusive benefits, including up to a 25% discount and priority access to chargers. Services are accessible through the Tata Power EZ Charge app and will soon be integrated into the iRA.ev Connected Car app for TATA.ev owners, providing a seamless user experience.

This initiative strengthens Tata Power’s existing network of over 1,000 green charging points in Mumbai, reinforcing its leadership in expanding the city’s electric vehicle infrastructure. The launch aligns with India’s goal of achieving 30% electric vehicle penetration by 2030, supporting the reduction of fossil fuel dependence and lowering emissions.

The MegaCharger hub represents a significant milestone in India’s journey toward sustainable urban mobility. By offering reliable and fast charging infrastructure in a key location, Tata Power and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. are driving greater EV adoption and contributing to a cleaner, greener urban environment. This collaboration highlights the importance of public-private partnerships in advancing the nation’s green mobility agenda.
