Toyota Motor Corporation and Lexus have unveiled three major performance models in Japan — the Toyota GR GT, the track-focused GR GT3, and the all-electric Lexus LFA Concept. The global premiere marks a bold next step for the companies as they expand their strategy across high-performance engineering, hybrid technology and full electric mobility.

The Toyota GR GT comes as the brand’s new flagship road-going sports car under the Gazoo Racing lineup. It features a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout, a newly developed twin-turbo hybrid V8 and a lightweight yet rigid structure designed to deliver high-speed stability and responsive handling. The car aims to blend motorsport-inspired performance with everyday usability for enthusiasts.

Toyota also introduced the GR GT3, a dedicated racing machine developed to meet FIA GT3 regulations. While it shares core architecture with the GR GT, the GT3 version receives extensive modifications including advanced cooling systems, upgraded brakes, race-grade suspension and aerodynamic enhancements. The model demonstrates Toyota’s intent to strengthen its presence in global GT racing and support customer motorsport teams.

On the luxury and EV front, Lexus unveiled the all-electric LFA Concept — a next-generation interpretation of the iconic LFA supercar. Unlike its V10-powered predecessor, the new concept embraces a fully battery electric powertrain while retaining the sleek proportions, driver-focused cockpit and high-performance orientation expected from an LFA. The concept embodies Lexus’s commitment to combining sustainability with supercar-level dynamics.

Toyota described the development philosophy behind the three models as an automotive version of the Japanese ritual “Shikinen Sengu” — preserving craftsmanship while recreating and advancing it for future generations. This approach reflects the companies’ efforts to evolve performance engineering with lighter structures, hybrid or electric powertrains and advanced aerodynamics, without losing the emotional appeal of combustion-era sports cars.

With this triple reveal, Toyota and Lexus signal a dual-path strategy — continuing to develop traditional hybrid performance models while also advancing electric supercars. While timelines are yet to be finalized, the GR GT is expected to enter production in coming years, followed by the GR GT3 for motorsport customers. The electric LFA Concept remains at the concept stage but sets a clear direction for Lexus’s future in high-performance EV development.
