The RML Group has introduced the VarEVolt battery, a ground-breaking battery electric-vehicle capable of fully charging in just 18 seconds. Its 200C charge/discharge rate is a quantum leap ahead of today’s leading EVs, such as the Porsche Taycan, whose 4–5C batteries require 12–15 minutes to charge fully.
This trailblazer delivers an extraordinary energy density of 6 kW per kilogram, enabling instantaneous power delivery—an asset for performance-oriented EVs.
Designed with modularity in mind, the VarEVolt can be tailored for specific needs—ranging from extended range to improved acceleration. Its flexible architecture suits both new EV platforms and retrofit projects.
Already, the battery has found a home in limited-production vehicles like the Czinger 21C hybrid hypercar. Additionally, RML is crafting upgrade kits to retrofit legendary hypercars such as the LaFerrari and McLaren P1 with this high-voltage leap in battery tech.
Boosting its commercial prospects, the VarEVolt has secured Conformity of Production (CoP) certification under UNECE Rule 100, unlocking the pathway to mass production.
However, this thrilling breakthrough raises an important condition for widespread adoption: the need for compatible high-performance charging infrastructure that can handle the immense power demands of ultra-fast charging.
