VE Commercial Vehicles Limited (VECV), a joint venture between Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jio-bp Pulse to strengthen India’s electric commercial vehicle ecosystem by expanding charging infrastructure nationwide.
Through this partnership, Eicher Trucks and Buses’ EV customers will gain seamless access to Jio-bp’s extensive network of over 6,000 charging points—the largest DC fast-charging network in India. Strategically located across cities, highways, and dedicated EV hubs, this infrastructure is built to cater to the diverse needs of commercial vehicles, ensuring reliable and efficient charging solutions.
Jio-bp, the fuel retail joint venture between Reliance Industries and bp, operates one of India’s rapidly expanding EV charging networks under the Jio-bp Pulse brand. Under this MoU, Jio-bp will provide tailored charging solutions, while VECV will leverage its expertise in electric truck and bus technologies to develop offerings that address the varied needs of commercial fleets.
A major highlight of this partnership is the integration of Jio-bp’s charging network with the My Eicher fleet management app. This feature will allow fleet operators to access real-time information on charger availability, helping them optimise vehicle usage, reduce downtime, and enhance operational efficiency—tackling one of the key challenges in large-scale EV adoption.
Vinod Aggarwal, Managing Director and CEO of VECV, highlighted that the partnership represents a significant step in India’s transition to zero-emission logistics. He stated, “By connecting Jio-bp Pulse’s expansive charging network with our My Eicher app, we are addressing a key hurdle for fleet operators and accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles.”
Sarthak Behuria, Chairman of Jio-bp, underscored that the collaboration will play a crucial role in advancing India’s mobility transition. He remarked, “Electric mobility is central to this shift, and our partnership with VECV will be instrumental in electrifying the trucking sector and driving faster adoption of EVs.”
Moving forward, both companies plan to explore depot-level charging solutions and custom infrastructure projects designed for large EV fleets and bus operations, laying the groundwork for future collaborations.
This partnership marks a major step forward for India’s commercial EV ecosystem, empowering fleet operators to transition to clean, sustainable mobility with greater confidence and scalability.
