Volkswagen has announced a brand-new range of compact electric cars under the banner “Electric Urban Car”, aimed squarely at Europe’s mass market. The line-up is set to hit roads in 2026, with a starting price point of about €25,000, making EV ownership more accessible to a wider audience.

The range will include models from Volkswagen, CUPRA, and Škoda, such as the ID. Polo, ID. CROSS Concept, CUPRA Raval, and Škoda Epiq. All of them will be built on the improved MEB+ platform and powered by Volkswagen’s latest “Unified Cell” battery, promising up to 450 km range and rapid charging speeds.

These aren’t stripped-down budget cars either. Volkswagen is packing in features like Travel Assist with lane-change support, LED matrix headlights, digital key access via smartphone, and traffic-light recognition. The company wants to deliver tech-rich EVs that combine efficiency with modern driving comfort.

With this push, Volkswagen is targeting a 20% share of Europe’s small EV market. CEO Oliver Blume said the launch is a milestone in the group’s electric roadmap, designed to deliver affordable mobility without compromising on quality or innovation.
