Volvo Secures Order for 73 Electric Buses to Electrify Borås

Volvo Buses has secured a major order from Vy Buss the order includes 73 new electric buses destined for the Swedish city of Borås.

The fleet consists of 46 Volvo 7900 Electric Articulated buses, 14 Volvo 7900 Electric, and 13 Volvo 8900 Electric all slated to begin operation by April 2027.

According to Volvo, once deployed, these buses will ensure that “all city bus traffic in Borås will be fully electrified,” marking a major milestone for sustainable urban transport in the region.

The new fleet won’t just cover city routes it will also handle regional connections, including services to Viared, site of Volvo Buses’ manufacturing facility.

To support this delivery, Volvo Buses and their local dealer Boråsbil have proposed a full solution including maintenance, depot infrastructure, and service contracts ensuring reliability and long-term performance for the operator.

For passengers, the switch promises better comfort and accessibility, with features like flexible interiors and dedicated wheelchair areas, highlighting the company’s push for more inclusive and climate-smart public transport.
