Wallbox, a global leader in EV charging and energy-management solutions, has joined hands with SureCharge Corp to build a fast-charging network across Alberta and British Columbia. The drive aims to boost electric-vehicle accessibility, push adoption forward, and help Canada in its transition toward greener transportation.

Under this partnership, 24 high-speed charging sites will be developed, featuring 96 Wallbox Supernova 180 kW DC fast chargers. These hubs will be strategically placed along major highways and travel corridors to ensure EV drivers in Western Canada can travel with minimal charging gaps.

The project is backed by significant government funding: over CAD $4.7 million from the Government of Canada via Natural Resources Canada’s Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program, plus an additional CAD $400,000 from the Government of British Columbia. This financial support underscores the commitment to improving EV infrastructure.

Initial sites are expected to become operational by late 2025, including locations in Red Deer, Lacombe, and Enoch Cree Nation. Deployment will continue steadily through 2026 and 2027, with priority given to high-traffic corridors and underserved communities.

On the technical and operational front, each site will have dual-head Supernova 180 kW chargers, significantly reducing wait times. Installation and ongoing maintenance will be handled by SureCharge Corp. in collaboration with SureTek Electric & Technologies Ltd., ensuring dependable and efficient service.

This initiative reflects the power of public-private partnerships in scaling clean transportation infrastructure. By combining Wallbox’s advanced technology with SureCharge’s regional experience and strong government support, the project is set to enhance connectivity, reduce “EV range anxiety,” and position Western Canada as a leader in sustainable mobility.
