Kazam Launches Free Programme for Unified Bharat eCharge Expansion

EV charging technology company Kazam has introduced a free integration programme to help expand interoperable EV charging across India through the Unified Bharat eCharge (UBC) framework. The initiative is aimed at enabling charge point operators (CPOs), mobility platforms, and ecosystem partners to connect with the national interoperability network without paying integration fees, supporting a more connected and accessible charging ecosystem.

The programme is designed to simplify the onboarding process for charging operators by allowing them to integrate with the Unified Bharat eCharge framework using open standards. Through this approach, participating operators can make their charging stations accessible across compatible EV applications, helping drivers discover, book, charge, and pay using their preferred platforms.

According to Kazam, the initiative supports the development of a unified charging ecosystem by reducing the need for multiple bilateral integrations between charging networks and mobility service providers. Instead, operators can connect through a common interoperability layer, improving operational efficiency while delivering a smoother charging experience for EV users.

The Unified Bharat eCharge framework has been envisioned as a UPI-style interoperability model for India’s EV charging infrastructure. Rather than replacing existing charging networks, it enables different operators and applications to work together through standardized protocols, allowing users to access participating chargers without being restricted to a single network.

Kazam said the free integration programme is intended to encourage wider industry participation in the interoperable charging ecosystem. By lowering integration barriers, the company aims to support charge point operators, fleet providers, OEMs, and mobility platforms in adopting open digital infrastructure that can scale with India’s growing EV market.

As electric vehicle adoption continues to accelerate across the country, interoperability is expected to play a critical role in improving charging accessibility and user convenience. Kazam’s latest initiative aligns with the broader objective of building a connected national EV charging ecosystem, making public charging simpler, more efficient, and easier to access for EV owners across India.
