E.ON and BYD have entered into a strategic partnership to make smart energy and electric mobility solutions more accessible to customers across Europe. The collaboration will connect BYD electric vehicles with E.ON’s energy and charging services, with a focus on intelligent charging and flexible energy use.
The first joint customer offering will launch in Germany in November 2026. It will combine the purchase or leasing of a fully electric BYD vehicle with an E.ON smart electricity tariff. The offer is planned to cover all fully electric BYD models available under the programme.
Customers using E.ON’s intelligent charging functions can reduce their monthly costs by up to €20 through a smart charging bonus. E.ON will automatically optimise the charging process and provide a bonus for electricity charged flexibly. The offer will also be available to existing BYD customers who switch to E.ON.
The partnership aims to bring electric mobility and energy services closer together. Customers will be able to access suitable charging and energy solutions alongside the purchase or lease of a fully electric BYD vehicle. The companies also plan to improve the digital customer experience by integrating their services more closely into apps.
E.ON and BYD are also preparing to test and scale additional flexibility solutions for a broader customer base. This includes further development of bidirectional charging, or vehicle-to-grid (V2G), which can allow electric vehicles to function as flexible energy storage within the wider energy system. These solutions are being developed as part of the companies’ longer-term partnership.
Following the German launch, E.ON and BYD plan to gradually expand the offering to additional European markets. The companies will continue developing integrated energy, charging and mobility services as they work to make smart EV solutions more accessible to customers across Europe.
