General Motors (GM) has taken a major step to simplify the electric vehicle (EV) charging experience for its customers by integrating Electrify America’s fast-charging network directly into its mobile apps. Now, owners of Chevrolet, GMC, and Cadillac EVs can find, access, and pay for charging at more than 5,000 Electrify America fast-charging stations right from the myChevrolet, myGMC, or myCadillac app on their phones. This move aims to remove the hassle of managing separate charging apps and accounts.
The new integration brings dozens of high-power stations, including Hyper-Fast chargers capable of delivering up to 350 kW, into GM’s digital ecosystem. Drivers can navigate to the Public Charging section of their app, view real-time charger availability, plan routes with charging stops and begin charging without needing third-party software. This unified setup is designed to put convenient charging access at the heart of the EV ownership experience.
According to GM, the goal of this integration is to make public charging a seamless part of everyday EV travel rather than an added chore. By offering search, route planning and payment features all in one place, the company believes EV drivers will spend less time worrying about where or how to charge and more time enjoying their journeys.
Wade Sheffer, Vice President of GM Energy, said GM is working closely across the industry to improve charging experiences, not just increase the number of chargers. The Electrify America partnership, he noted, is a part of broader collaboration efforts to ensure EV drivers have access to reliable public infrastructure as more people adopt electric vehicles nationwide.
Electrify America also weighed in, highlighting that as EV travel continues to grow the demand for convenient charging experiences grows too. Robert Barrosa, CEO and President of Electrify America, explained that this integration gives GM drivers a seamless and dependable way to access a wide network of fast chargers throughout the U.S. and Canada.
This move comes as part of GM’s wider strategy to expand its EV ecosystem and support charging infrastructure connectivity. With over 250,000 public charging stations now accessible to its customers across North America, the company is focused on enhancing the overall charging journey while it continues to broaden its EV lineup.
