JSW Energy has further expanded its footprint in India’s battery energy storage sector after its step-down subsidiary, JSW Energy PSP Eleven, secured a ₹443.74 crore (approximately ₹444 crore) order from Bondada Renewable Energy. The contract involves the supply of a 200 MW/400 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) along with an advanced Power Conversion System (PCS), marking another significant milestone in the country’s clean energy infrastructure.
The project has been awarded by Bondada Renewable Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bondada Engineering Limited. Under the agreement, JEPEL will deliver integrated BESS and PCS solutions that will support efficient energy storage, improve grid stability, and enable better integration of renewable power into the electricity network. The project highlights the growing demand for large-scale battery storage solutions as India accelerates its renewable energy transition.
The latest order reinforces JSW Energy’s commitment to strengthening its energy storage business. The company has been steadily expanding its capabilities through JEPEL’s 5 GWh annual battery assembly facility in Pune, which manufactures advanced battery energy storage solutions for utility-scale and commercial applications. The facility plays a key role in supporting India’s rapidly growing demand for reliable and scalable energy storage technologies.
Battery Energy Storage Systems are becoming an essential part of modern power infrastructure by storing excess electricity generated from renewable sources such as solar and wind and supplying it when demand rises. As renewable energy capacity continues to grow across the country, BESS projects are expected to play a crucial role in enhancing grid reliability, improving energy efficiency, and ensuring a stable power supply.
The new contract also strengthens JSW Energy’s long-term growth strategy. The company currently has a locked-in generation capacity of 32.1 GW and 29.6 GWh of locked-in energy storage capacity, while targeting 30 GW of power generation and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030. Winning large-scale projects such as the Bondada order further supports the company’s vision of becoming a leading integrated energy provider in India.
The ₹444 crore BESS order reflects the increasing momentum of battery energy storage investments across the country as utilities and renewable energy developers focus on building a more resilient power ecosystem. For JSW Energy, the project not only strengthens its order book but also reinforces its position as a key player in India’s rapidly evolving clean energy and energy storage market.
