Kia India has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to broaden access to public electric vehicle charging stations across the country, making it easier for EV owners to travel longer distances without range worries.
Under the partnership, over 3,000 BPCL charging points will be integrated into Kia’s K-Charge platform, bringing the combined network to more than 15,000 charging touchpoints nationwide. This initiative comes at a time when ensuring convenient EV charging infrastructure is key to accelerating EV adoption in India.
The expanded network aims to give Kia EV customers better access to charging stations in urban centres, along highways, and across inter-city routes, helping reduce range anxiety — one of the biggest hurdles for electric vehicle users today. With BPCL’s widespread stations onboarded into the system, drivers can plan journeys with greater confidence.
Users can locate and use the charging stations through Kia’s MyKia app and the company’s website, where they can find available points, navigate to them and make payments via a unified digital interface. The integrated platform eliminates the need for different apps and simplifies the charging experience for vehicle owners.
The MoU was formalised during the India Energy Week 2026 event, held from January 27 to 30 in Goa, where leaders from both companies highlighted the importance of scaling charging infrastructure to support India’s EV ecosystem.
While no detailed timeline for the full rollout has been shared, officials say the integration of BPCL’s charging points into the K-Charge system will be carried out in phases. The collaboration also aligns with Kia’s growing electric vehicle lineup in India, including its locally manufactured Carens Clavis EV and global EV models.
