MG Motor has announced an ambitious expansion plan to launch 13 new electrified vehicles globally over the next two years, supported by a massive investment of 10 billion yuan (approx US $1.4 billion).

The upcoming lineup will span battery electric vehicles (BEVs), extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs), and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs)—demonstrating MG’s strategic shift toward becoming a global powerhouse in the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) segment.

Generation of these vehicles will also focus on advanced features across powertrain, connectivity, and affordability. MG’s all-new MG4 EV hatchback spearheads this move, offering a potent blend of performance and value with a 120 kW motor, up to 537 km of range, and an estimated starting price below ₹12 lakh in China.

The push follows MG’s growing momentum in export markets; it sold over 150,000 units in Europe during the first half of 2025, making it SAIC Motor’s strongest overseas brand. However, electrified vehicle sales in its home market remain low, with just over 57,000 NEV units sold in China between January and July 2025.

Broadening its technology portfolio, MG will invest heavily in next-gen battery tech, intelligent cockpits, and vehicle connectivity. Notably, it is working on semi-solid-state batteries that promise higher energy density and enhanced performance in cold climates.

MG’s intensified electrification wave is part of SAIC’s broader mission to reduce fossil fuel reliance and increase global competitiveness, just as MG marks its centenary in 2025.
