Yuma Energy has firmly established itself as India’s leading Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) provider, achieving more than 35 million battery swaps and expanding its network to over 2,000 swapping stations across 17 cities. This impressive growth in just over two years marks a 20-fold expansion since its launch in February 2023.

The company’s services span two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and last-mile delivery vehicles, offering a fast, cost-effective alternative to traditional EV charging. With swap times measured in minutes, Yuma is rapidly meeting the demand for efficient energy solutions among urban commuters and logistics operators.

Muthu Subramanian, Managing Director and General Manager at Yuma Energy, attributed the rapid rise to growing trust among both end-users and fleet operators. He noted that the company’s model addresses key barriers to electric vehicle adoption, including upfront cost, charging downtime, and range anxiety.

Battery swapping is increasingly viewed as a transformative element in India’s EV landscape. Yuma’s BaaS platform is driving cleaner, more reliable mobility in ride-hailing, delivery, and urban transport sectors by delivering predictability and accessibility in energy access.

Looking ahead, Yuma Energy plans to strengthen its presence in current markets and expand into new ones, with the ambition of becoming India’s largest battery-swapping infrastructure network. These efforts align with broader national goals for sustainable transportation and carbon emission reduction.

Yuma’s rapid scaling highlights the value of battery swapping as a complementary solution to conventional charging infrastructure, particularly for high-utilisation commercial segments. However, achieving widespread adoption will depend on continued expansion, standardization efforts, and supportive policies.
